About me

From a young age I was constantly creating, and could often be found surrounded by pencils, Lego, and clay, detailing elaborate spacecraft or molding unidentified creatures. Pursuing my creative inclinations, I started studying architecture in 2012 at the University of Cape Town, completing my Masters of Architecture in 2017.

After several years of professional Architectural practice, I discovered the UX world and was immediately fascinated - I found it to be more human centered, playing to my interest in psychology. The ability to impact many people with my work was exciting. The design problems are newer and more abundant.

I started studying UX part-time in 2022, and made the career switch in February 2024. I bring my own Architecturally informed design approach to the industry. I constantly iterate between ‘the bigger picture’ and detail oriented design. I maintain focus on how each aspect of a given flow contributes to the greater experience of the product. My goal is to create harmony between the ‘feeling’ and the frame.

My freelance work on the TOS Connect app demonstrates my architectural approach to systematic thinking translated to the UX context. Through understanding the overlapping needs of multiple user groups, I was able to holistically consider the way in which the different functional components should fit together to create a clear and cohesive product.

I look forward to my continued career in UX. I hope that I can design for you, and maybe even with you, in the future.

Design approach

My experience in design has taught me that complex problems need to be properly understood in order to be meaningfully addressed. When we properly understand the problem, we open ourselves to designing a relevant solution.

Simple solutions are a priority in their own right. They avoid needless complexity that only distracts the user. Designing with brevity keeps the user focused, assisting them in accomplishing their task.

Colleagues reflect that I design with a balance of sensitivity and boldness. During my design process, I consistently question how does this detail make the user feel? I try to contrast this with the experience of the product as a whole. The goal is to harmonise these aspects into a clear design solution.

The simple solution to a complex problem is inherently bold.
